It is the legal responsibility of the owner or landlord of a building to maintain and service the smoke control system to ensure continued functionality of the life safety systems.
All Smoke Control Systems require regular servicing and maintaining.
The British Standards BS 5588-12: 2004 States a recommendation that all smoke control systems should be subject to a weekly test and serviced at least once a year.
